What is the difference between axial, centrifugal, forward, backward, belt driven, in-line fans?
For several application you need different kind of products, the following table shows you what kind of fans exist and in which field they are used:
Kind
Adjustment
Advantage
Applications
Axial
air maintains parallel movement within the fan
Provides a better air-movements in ventilation systems
Axial in line
Motor set in line with the propeller
Simple design
Use for clean air
Axial belt driven
Motor is set outside the housing, using of a belt
Motor has no contact with the airflow
Can be used for polluted air
Centrifugal
air maintains perpendicular movement in relation to the fan
Used for a transportation of air, generates an high airflow
Centrifugal forward
Movement and design of the propellers is forward
Higher air flow available
Used for short transportation ways
Centrifugal backward
Movement and design of the propellers is backward
Higher static pressure available
Used for longer transportation ways enabled because of the higher static pressure
Ventilator
Enables a good air exchange
